Behavioral Health Intervention Services (BHIS) are supportive, directive and teaching interventions provided in a community-based or residential group care environment designed to improve your ability to function even though you have a mental illness. Their primary goal is assist you (and your family) to learn age-appropriate skills to manage your behavior, and regain or retain self-control.
For example, BHIS can provide intensive skill development, counseling and referral services to your family if you are experiencing challenges with your child’s disruptive behaviors. Services address behaviors like aggressiveness, poor communication or poor social skills that can impact your child's success in school, at home and in their community. BHIS are managed individually by each Medicaid management company and so to receive them for free your child must be on Title 19 insurance.
